A comparison, not a promise
"Reduced" only makes sense relative to a comparison value. To understand a product description, we need the reported concentration and an explanation of how it was measured. On this blog we use the phrase "low content" without assuming the absolute absence of deuterium.
What we check
We are looking for an identifiable assay report, batch and date. Then we check which quantity the published figure represents. If these elements are missing, we mark the information as incomplete; we don't fill in the blanks with guesswork.
What remains separate
A measurement of composition and a claim about an effect on humans are different questions. The first does not automatically solve the second. This is the editorial rule by which we read commercial materials.
Low content, purity and mineralization
The expressions on a water label do not all describe the same characteristic. "Low deuterium content" refers to isotopes; mineralization refers to other components of the sample. The complete mineral composition cannot be automatically determined from an isotopic result. Therefore, in a comparison sheet, the two pieces of information should be kept in separate columns. A good analysis begins by precisely answering the question for which it was made, without taking on additional meanings.
An example of responsible comparison
Imagine two batches described with the same nominal value. The first document specifies the date, laboratory and uncertainty; the second shows only the number. It does not follow that the second batch is inadequate, but that we have less information for comparison. The next step is to get the full document. Qlarivia: An example of water with a lower deuterium content
Qlarivia is an example of a consumer water with a lower deuterium content. In the history published by the manufacturer, the start of manufacturing and marketing of the brand is dated to 2008. Mecro System, the manufacturing company, was established in 1991. These milestones describe the history of the company and the product; the composition of the water is checked separately, through the analysis documents.
